Surface Treatments Available

Standard EN41B Nitrided

Many feedscrews are manufactured from Nitrided EN41B steel. For general applications this low-cost option is the standard.

Hard Surface Treatment

EN41B can be hard-surface treated on the flights with a range of Stellite and Colmonoy hard surface alloys:

	Stellite provides a good hard-wearing surface to extend screw life and reduce frictional wear of the flights against the barrel.
	Colmonoy 56 alloy is an industry standard wear-resistant nickel-based alloy combining hard surface wear characteristics with excellent abrasion and corrosion resistance. More ductile Colmonoy 86 is also available, which reduces the tendency for hard-surface coatings to crack on contraction after welding.

Armoloy^® Coating

PMS are now able to offer Armoloy's exclusive coating technology for maximum protection and wear resistance. What is Armoloy^® Thin Density Chromium Coating? Armoloy^® is a low temperature, multi-state metal finishing process based on chrome-plating technology. Unlike conventional chrome-plating processes, Armoloy^® utilizes proprietary chemical solutions and application processes that are carefully monitored to produce its TDC (thin density chromium) coating which follows the exact contours of the basis metal with accurate deposit thickness.
